Beginner - 8 Week Handbuilding Class
Instructor : Volker Schoenfliess
This class will meet every Monday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm
In 1980 Volker Schoenfliess and 8 other artists founded Baltimore Clayworks.
He is one of the most talented ceramic artists out there, his mastery of the subject matter can be seen in his stunning work.
If you are interested in free forming clay, making forms without using the potter's wheel, and/or decorative or sculptural work this is an exciting class for you.
This class will help you tap into your creativity while learning the basic skills of handbuilding with clay.
From building shapes to finishing your pieces with ceramic glazes, this class will help you develop the skills needed to form and finish your own pottery.
25 lbs. of Cone 05 clay & Bisque firing costs are included.
There is an additional small fee for glaze firing based on the weight of your pieces, each piece you make must have a ticket to get glaze fired.
You will get a code to the door that is good for the 2 months of your class. You may practice in the studio only when there are no other classes in session. This extra time can also be used to finish anything left undone, and to pick up your finished pieces throughout their firings.
We know everyone has busy lives and we like to give all the flexibility we can.
However, it relies on individuals to keep it operating smoothly and safely.
Remember to clean up well after yourself.
Both clay & glaze are comprised of mostly Silica, mineral name Quartz, the 2nd most common element on the surface of the earth, aka sand, aka glass.
Fine particulate glass is not good to breathe.
Keeping our studio clean is to the health and benefit of everyone and it is something that all of our students, teachers, members, manager, and owner work towards every week.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!
